Welcome to the website for the City of Greenwood!

Automated Trash Service

The City of Greenwood believes in safer, cleaner, greener waste management and provides fully automated trash services to residents within city limits. Services include weekly trash pickup and free bi-weekly recycling. Residents receive 95-gallon carts for both trash and recycling, which can be modified to fit resident specific needs after delivery.

If you find the 95-gallon receptacle is too large for your needs, you may call Best Way Disposal to exchange your 95-gallon cart for a 64-gallon cart at no charge. Alternatively, if you find the 95-gallon receptacle is too small for your needs, you may call Best Way Disposal to have an additional 64-gallon cart delivered to you at no charge.

An informational brochure is included in each new cart. Click here to learn more.

On your designated pick up day, trash and recycling must be curbside by 7 a.m.  All trash must go inside the provided cart. Heavy trash days will follow the same rules.

For customer assistance please contact Best Way Disposal, Greenwood’s partner for trash and recycling services. Receptacle requests should be directed to Best Way Disposal at (317) 484-3365. For new service or billing questions please contact customer service at (317) 865-8238 or email utilities@greenwood.in.gov

Leaf Pickup

Curbside Pickup Dates: October 21, 2024 to December 6, 2024

The City of Greenwood is proud to provide comprehensive seasonal leaf removal services. To ensure removal of leaves happens efficiently and effectively, please consider the following guidelines:

  • Residents must rake leaves to the edge of the curb or yard for proper pickup. The City cannot pick up bagged leaves at curbside.
  • Please do not put leaf piles in the street as this will cause stormwater drainage problems.
  • Leaf and tree limb piles need to be separated.
  • Grass clippings, flowers or garden plants are not part of this service and should not be combined with leaves.
  • Please do not block leaf piles with vehicles.
  • Residents may also take leaves to the Waste Management Facility located at 1244 West Fry Road.
  • Normal leaf pickup is once every 10-15 business days.

Our year-round limb pickup service helps you clean up after routine yardwork, strong storms or a full outdoor makeover. Please consider the following guidelines:

  • Limbs must be less than 8 inches in diameter and no longer than 10 feet in length.
  • Limbs should be placed at the edge of the curb, not in the street.
  • The city cannot remove root balls, tree stumps, weed trimmings, grass, garden vegetation or used mulch.
  • Leaf and limb piles must be free of trash, lumber, wire, and any other garbage.
  • Residents also can drop off their limbs at the Fry Road Waste Management Facility located at 1244 West Fry Road (behind Fire Station). The facility is open Monday-Friday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Saturday 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Closed holidays.
