In an effort to attract more restaurants and eateries to Greenwood, the city established a riverfront district that allows for more liquor licenses. The riverfront district covers most developed areas in the city, including all of downtown and Greenwood Park Mall.
All plan reviews and inspections are conducted in accordance with current State of Indiana approved codes.
If you are applying for a Restaurant or Retail Food Establishment Permit, you should also contact the Johnson County Health Department to find out what they will require for your project.

The State of Indiana requires that a Construction Design Release be obtained for most commercial and industrial building projects. Apply through the Indiana Department of Homeland Security or call 317.232.6422.
The Sewer Availability Fee (SAF) is a one-time fee to connect to Greenwood’s sanitary sewer system. The fee is based upon the size of the water meter installed in the building.

Effective March 1, 2020, businesses that furnish, prepare or serve any food and/or beverages within Greenwood are required to implement a 1% food and beverage tax.
