The City of Greenwood, IN

Welcome to the website for the City of Greenwood!

Today, Mayor Mark W. Myers joined city and community leaders to announce the official opening of Greenwood’s new multi-functional amenity, the Greenwood Sports Park. The 40-acre development, located northwest of the Worthsville Road and Interstate 65 interchange, will be a youth baseball and softball tournament hotspot, also home to a state-of-the-art playground, multi-use field, walking trails and a splash pad.

“Our new Sports Park is a fantastic amenity for residents and visitors to enjoy,” Myers said. “While we are excited to host the fall baseball and softball tournaments, starting Saturday, the park offers much more than sports. Our ongoing investment into Greenwood’s park and recreation programs fosters new relationships, helps build community, increases economic development and ultimately, promotes quality-of-life.”

The Greenwood Sports Park amenities include eight hybrid turf baseball and softball fields, restrooms and concessions. Additionally, the public can enjoy the city’s second splash pad; a multi-use field suitable for soccer and cricket among other sports; a playground; and walking paths throughout the park. The park was designed with interconnected walking trails to enable parents and caregivers to exercise while keeping an eye on their children as they play on the inclusive playground equipment, splash pad and turf fields.

Greenwood appreciates all local partners and sponsors for their continued contributions.

Completion of the Sports Park would not be possible without the support of local partners including Lennar, Precision Fiber Solutions, Camila’s Mexican Restaurant, Peterman Brothers, Kopetsky Auto Wash, Masters Heating & Cooling, JCREMC/JCFiber, Tilson HR, Christy’s Design & Sign, MetroNet Fiber, Citizen’s Banks, University of Indianapolis, Rascal’s Fun Zone, Sparrow Logistics, Chicago’s Pizza.

“To witness the design and construction of this park over the last three years has been incredible,” said Greenwood Parks & Recreation Executive Director Rob Taggart. “We look forward to the new opportunities this development will bring our community and the ability to expand our programming.”

Greenwood is partnering with GMB, a top-tier youth baseball and softball tournament organization, to bring athletes ages 14 and younger to tournaments at the Sports Park. This partnership will increase travel sport options on Indianapolis’ southside and draw visitors from around the region. This weekend, GMB will host their Indiana Fall Ball Season Opener at the Greenwood Sports Park and welcome many new visitors.

The turf fields will be available for rent when they are not utilized for tournaments or other Greenwood Parks and Recreation programs. To check the availability of the turf fields, contact the Greenwood Parks & Recreation department. All other times, the turf fields will be closed to the public. The playground, splash pad and walking trails will be open to the public and follow the Greenwood parks operating hours.
