The City of Greenwood is hosting a public presentation to share the recommendations of the draft comprehensive plan with community members. The presentation will be held on Wednesday, July 24 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm at the Greenwood Public Library in Community Room AB, located at 310 S. Meridian Street.

The Greenwood Comprehensive Plan is the long-range, community-wide guide for future growth, development, and investment across the city. The document has been formed after significant community input and guidance from city officials over the last year, identifying opportunities for growth while reinforcing the unique character present in the community. The plan outlines a vision for the future that is supported by a series of projects, policies, and initiatives. Once adopted, Greenwood’s elected officials and staff will utilize the plan when making future decisions related to land use, zoning, development, transportation and utility infrastructure, and other investments. 

Community input is critical to the success of the planning process, ensuring plan recommendations preserve community assets, and address the specific needs of residents. After multiple in-person and online engagement opportunities targeting Greenwood residents and businesses, the city is now asking for the community’s help in reviewing the draft plan and providing feedback. Nicki Mueller, a Greenwood city planner who has been instrumental in the comprehensive plan process, shared, “Last fall, the comprehensive planning process focused intensely on community engagement. The public helped us understand opportunities and challenges, establishing the foundation and vision for Greenwood’s draft comprehensive plan. We are now excited to share the plan with the Greenwood community before we begin the adoption process later this summer.” 

The meeting, facilitated by city staff and consultants from HWC Engineering, will include a presentation of key findings and recommendations as well as providing an opportunity to ask questions and comment on plan themes. Results from the workshop and online comments about the draft plan will be used to inform potential edits before the adoption process begins.
