EXTRA SPACE
The Hazardous Materials Response Team is comprised of a 30-person, Level A, Technician team. There are an additional 45 Hazardous Materials Technicians on the department, and all GFD personnel are trained to, at minimum, the Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations level.
The team trains monthly on all aspects of Hazardous Materials and weapons of mass destruction response and is equipped with state-of-the-art response, detection and mitigation equipment.
The Greenwood Fire Department is also trained in Ice and Top Water Rescue Operations. Each apparatus is equipped with ice rescue suits, personal floatation devices, rescue ropes and water rescue thrown bags to use in the event of an ice or water rescue. Advanced ice and water rescue equipment such as an All Surface Rescue Boat and a Rescue Rope Launch Gun are located specifically on Rescue 91.
