Engineering

Greenwood’s Engineering Division is responsible for a number of city projects and processes:

  • Review site, subdivision and other proposed plans regarding land alterations, ensuring plans meet the city's subdivision
    control ordinance specifications, as well as general engineering criteria.

  • Prepare construction and material specifications for public works projects.

  • Design various city projects, including drainage, street and parking facilities.

Planning

The Planning Division works to makes sure Greenwood develops in a way that benefits the entire community. The division regulates and assists businesses in various improvement and development areas, including land use, zoning, site plan review and construction.

The Planning Division is also responsible for land alteration and sign permits. Land alteration permits are required to begin preparing a site for development, and sign permits are required for all business signage within the city, including temporary signs.

Technical Review Committee

The Technical Review Committee (TRC) is made up of members from various city departments, school representatives, and area utilities. The committee reviews projects proposed for development, meeting to review:

  • Site Development Plans
  • Primary Subdivision Plans
  • Secondary Subdivision Plans
  • Plat Vacations & Amendments

The TRC maintains a Plan Review Status for all projects. Once projects are given final approval, Planning Division staff coordinates permit issuance to allow site work to begin.

Revised plans can be submitted to the Planning Division any time after the TRC meeting in which the project was addressed. Please refer to the Plan Submittal Guidelines for the needed quantity of plans, necessary accompaniments and the general procedures used to expedite your plan review.

Sewer Availability Fee (SAF) Application

The Sewer Availability Fee (SAF) is a one-time fee to connect to Greenwood’s sanitary sewer system. The fee is based upon the size of the water meter installed in the building.
