The City of Greenwood, IN

Welcome to the website for the City of Greenwood!

Greenwood Goes Green is the city’s ongoing initiative to educate, inspire and empower residents and businesses to create a healthy, vibrant, connected community with equitable, environmentally friendly resources and a sustainable economy.

GGGSustainability is more than just protecting and preserving our environment. It’s about building strong partnerships with neighborhoods, other government agencies, nonprofit organizations and businesses to
work together to ensure current and future generations have the resources needed to achieve the highest quality of life.

In addition to promoting public awareness and participation for green programming and infrastructure, Greenwood has implemented its own green initiatives. These include recycling bins in city offices, adoption of a green purchasing policy encouraging recycled products where economically feasible, and the use of recycled paper
for all utility bills.

We are looking for volunteers interested in helping plant trees, shrubs and seedlings on May 20 from 9 am to noon.

This planting project involves a partnership between DNR Fish and Wildlife along with DNR Community and Urban Forestry and the Greenwood Stormwater Department to naturalize the retention pond on Worthsville Road (located South of Worthsville and West of I-65).
